Fireman's Fund Insurance Co. in Novato, Calif., said Monday that it will offer identity theft restoration services nationally, including access to a personal counselor who can help identity theft victims.
This enhancement is to come at no additional cost - and with no deductible - to Fireman's Fund customers who have Prestige Home Premier with Added Measure coverage; it will become available on Wednesday.
Identify theft is the fastest-growing crime in America, the company said; its victims number in the millions; and economic losses exceed $50 billion a year. Fireman's Fund began protecting policyholders against identity theft in 2003 with $25,000 of coverage for identity fraud expenses included in the Prestige Home Premier with Added Measure product.
The addition of identity theft restoration services transfers some of the burden of crisis resolution from victims to crisis managers, the company said.
As part of the service, Fireman's Fund is to offer toll-free access to a personal advocate; fast notification to relevant agencies; arrangement of appointments with law enforcement; credit monitoring and fraud alerts; and restoration of credit files, DMV records, government records, and financial accounts.
