In Brief: Former Goldman Exec Joins Web Bank

IRVINE, Calif. - Robert B. Albertson, former head of U.S. bank research at Goldman Sachs & Co., has joined an Internet-only banking company as chief strategist.

National InterBank provides private-label online banking services for Internet businesses and affinity groups. Mr. Albertson will be responsible for guiding its long-term strategic direction, including its fund raising efforts through private placements and venture capital.

In a statement, Richard R. Waterfield, co-chairman of National InterBank, said Mr. Albertson's experience with the banking industry will help bolster its presence at the top of the Internet-only banking world.

Mr. Albertson left Goldman Sachs in February 1999 after 12 years at the Wall Street firm. He founded a hedge fund, Pilot Financial, which he will continue to oversee.
