In Brief: GE Capital Said to Shut Auto Lending Biz

NEW YORK — GE Capital Corp. ceased making car loans and leases in the United States today, ending more than two decades as one of the largest auto finance companies in the country.

GE told its employees and car-dealer clients Wednesday about its decision to shut down its auto lending, a spokesman for GE said. The move will result in the elimination 400 jobs by early February.
