In Brief: Genworth Picks Ex-T. Rowe Exec for Board

Genworth Financial announced Wednesday that it had elected James S. Riepe, who retired at the end of last year as vice chairman of T. Rowe Price Group Inc., to its board of directors.

Mr. Riepe, 62, spent 24 years at T. Rowe Price, during which its assets under management rose to $270 billion. He has led its marketing and technology activities and also developed and was chairman of its retirement services unit.

Saiyid "Sy" T. Naqvi, the chief executive officer of DeepGreen Financial, an online homeequity lender, joined the Genworth board in December, and Nancy J. Karch, a director emeritus and retired senior partner of McKinsey & Co., was elected in October.

Mr. Riepe succeeds Dennis D. Dammerman, the retired vice chairman of General Electric Co., who left the Genworth board in late December.

Genworth is a Richmond, Va., insurance holding company with 15 million customers and operations in 24 countries.
