In Brief: GM Hires Investment Chief for Asset Unit

General Motors Corp. announced Monday that it has hired Nancy Everett to become the chief investment officer of General Motors Asset Management on June 1.

The GM unit's investment subsidiaries manage about $160 billion of pension, 401(k), and other assets for the parent's benefit plans and other clients.

Ms. Everett, 50, is the chief investment officer for the Virginia Retirement System, a $40 billion retirement fund.

She began her career at Virginia's retirement system in 1979 and was named its chief investment officer in 1999.
