Mr. Houseworth will work with government officials and banking regulators across the country as Capitol continues to expand into new markets, the $3.5 billion-asset multibank holding company said late Thursday.

Before becoming a banking regulator in Arizona, Mr. Houseworth was the president of First National Bank of Harveyville in Kansas. Later he was appointed by Vice President George H.W. Bush as a consultant to the assistant secretary of the Treasury for international affairs.

Joseph D. Reid, Capitol's chairman and chief executive, called Mr. Houseworth and Capitol a perfect fit. "His business experience, industry knowledge, and ability to build relationships are an excellent complement to our company," Mr. Reid said in a press release.

Mr. Houseworth is expected to begin working at Capitol on April 1.
