In Brief: Guardian Life Hires Stock Fund Chief

NEW YORK - Guardian Life Insurance Company of America's investment department has hired Richard Goldman as the managing director and head of its common stock department, which manages over $6 billion for Guardian and its clients.

Mr. Goldman was a director of Citigroup Asset Management, and oversaw $4.5 billion of mutual fund, variable annuity, and institutional assets while at the Citigroup Inc. division.

He will run the Guardian Park Avenue Fund, the company's flagship mutual fund, and other common stock portfolios.

Mr. Goldman, whose hiring was announced Monday, will report to Frank J. Jones, the insurer's president and chief investment officer.
