In Brief: Hartford Hires Brokerage Life Sales Chief

Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. said Wednesday that it had hired Tom Tooley to be national accounts director for distribution of life insurance through national and regional broker-dealers - the insurer's No. 1 channel.

The company said that it was among the first life insurers to sell through registered representatives so that its network of 220 account executives is well positioned to help investment professionals fill insurance and estate planning needs. Mr. Tooley was a senior vice president of wire house life sales at Travelers Life and Annuity Co., now a part of MetLife Inc.
