Heartland Financial USA Inc.'s fourth-quarter earnings rose 77% from a year earlier, to $6.6 million.
The Dubuque, Iowa, company also said Monday that diluted earnings per share rose 66.7%, to 40 cents.
Full-year profits jumped 14.3%, to $20.3 million, and diluted earnings per share rose 8.6%, to $1.26.
The $2.6 billion-asset multibank holding company beat the average analyst expectations of 40 cents of earnings per share for the quarter and $1.18 for the year.
Heartland cited a growth in earning assets and fee income. The growth was driven largely by its acquisition of the $357 million-asset Rocky Mountain Bancorp of Billings, Mont., in June and of the wealth management unit of Colonial Trust Co. of Phoenix in September.
