Hedge fund assets rose 24% last year, to $1.89 trillion, according to a report by HedgeFund.net.
Equity-focused hedge fund assets rose 30%, to $743 billion. Nearly 70% of this increase came from new assets, according to HedgeFund.net data issued Monday.
Assets in funds-of-funds, which invest in several hedge funds, increased 22%, to $953 billion.
New allocations of $22.9 billion were made last year to emerging-market-focused hedge funds and $18.2 billion to energy-sector-focused hedge funds, the report said.
