Mr. Young will be part of the U.S. senior management team, reporting to Gerard Aquilina, the chief executive officer for the Americas at HSBC Private Bank.

Joining HSBC after 27 years at Citigroup Inc., Mr. Young most recently was the head of private-client lending in the Smith Barney division. He also had headed the Northeast region at Citigroup Private Bank and was head of investment finance and senior credit officer for the Northeast and Middle Atlantic regions.

"He will work with our team of … private bankers to achieve much closer collaboration with our partners in tax, investment banking, corporate and commercial banking, and personal financial services as HSBC continues to grow its footprint nationwide," Mr. Aquilina said in a press release.
