In Brief: Iberiabank: Ready to Rebuild

Daryl G. Byrd, the president and chief executive of Iberiabank Corp. of Lafayette, La., said he expects Lafayette, Baton Rouge, and other cities near New Orleans to grow fast as families and businesses displaced by Hurricane Katrina begin to rebuild.

“School-enrollment opportunities, office space, and quality housing in these communities are being consumed extremely rapidly,” Mr. Byrd said in a news release Friday.

Iberiabank, with $2.7 billion of assets, has 34 branches in the region surrounding New Orleans, so it is well-positioned to aid in the recovery effort, he said.

“Our people stand ready to serve our clients’ needs, and we encourage commercial and private banking clients from New Orleans to contact us as soon as possible,” Mr. Byrd said. “We want to help clients get back on their feet.”

Except in the New Orleans area, where Iberiabank has seven branches, its 42-branch network is up and running, Mr. Byrd said.
