In Brief: ING Unit Hires Chief for Equity Trading

ING Investment Management said Wednesday that it had hired Nanette J. Buziak to be head of its U.S. equity trading and separately announced the start-up of a mutual fund.

In her senior vice president role, Ms. Buziak is to direct trading operations for ING Investment Management's equity group. It manages more than $160 billion of equity, fixed-income, and alternative assets.

Ms. Buziak joined ING Investment Management from JPMorgan Fleming Asset Management, where she was a senior portfolio manager. Previously, she was a trader and a portfolio manager at First Marathon America Inc.'s domestic convertible bond arbitrage portfolio.

ING said Tuesday that it had started the ING Global Equity Dividend and Premium Opportunity Fund, a closed-end portfolio that invests in global common stocks combined with a covered call writing strategy.

ING Global Equity Dividend and Premium Opportunity Fund raised $1.7 billion in an offering with Citigroup Global Markets Inc. as sole bookrunner and co-lead manager and UBS Securities LLC and Wachovia Capital Markets LLC as co-lead managers.

The fund is managed by ING Investments LLC and draws on two teams of global investment professionals at ING Investment Management Advisor BV, the fund's subadviser, which is part of ING Investment Management Europe.

ING Investment Management units oversee more than $412 billion of assets.
