SACRAMENTO, Calif. - InsWeb Corp. has countersued eHealthInsurance Services Inc., which provided health care information on a Web site they had shared.
The lawsuit, announced last Thursday, came about a month after eHealthInsurance of Sunnyvale, Calif., sued InsWeb, alleging that it had failed to perform its obligations. At that time eHealthInsurance terminated a two-year agreement, signed last April, that had made it the cobranded site's exclusive provider of individual health, small-group health, and Medicare supplement insurance quotes.
As a result of that agreement, InsWeb said, it had stopped operating its own online health insurance marketplace.
In a press release, InsWeb denied allegations that it breached an online-distribution agreement with eHealthInsurance; the countersuit requests compensation for damage allegedly caused by eHealthInsurance's "early and improper termination of their agreement."
