In Brief: Japan Honors a Hartford Exec

Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. announced that Japan had named Gregory Boyko, the chairman and chief executive officer of Hartford Life International Ltd., as the Asian nation's honorary consul in Simsbury, Conn.

Mr. Boyko is the executive vice president of international operations at Hartford Life, another subsidiary of Hartford Financial. He was a leading force in establishing the company's Japan unit, Hartford Life Insurance KK, which in 2003 took the No. 1 share in the country's variable annuities market, the company said Wednesday.
