In Brief: LaFalce Revives Casino ATM Bill

WASHINGTON - Rep. John J. LaFalce, the ranking Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee, has reintroduced a bill that would prohibit the use of credit or debit cards in gambling halls.

The Gambling ATM and Credit/Debit Card Reform Act, first introduced in 1999, would prohibit credit card validation machines, automated teller machines, or electronic payment terminals in gambling halls.

The bill would force gambling institutions to create barriers between gambling areas and areas designated for electronic transfers of cash and credit.
