McDonald's Corp. will try to speed service in U.S. restaurants with a MasterCard service in which employees don't handle the card.
The service, the result of an expanded agreement with MasterCard International Inc., uses cards with radio-frequency chips and will be offered at some metropolitan New York and Dallas restaurants this year, the Oak Brook, Ill., restaurant chain said in a press release last week. An unspecified number of locations will be added next year.
Customers will be able to tap or wave the cards on or near terminals, which use radio-frequency technology to complete the transaction, the press release said.
