More than 9,000 of Tower Federal Credit Union's customers have used the Dynamic Card Solutions instant payment card-issuing system the credit union installed last year, the technology company said.
The Englewood, Colo., vendor said Monday that Tower in Laurel, Md., had put the issuing systems in all its branches and has used them to create 9,500 cards.
Dynamic's instant-issuing systems let banks offer customers new and replacement debit cards immediately instead of relying on mailings to customers' homes. The vendor has said that people are more likely to activate and use debit cards when their banks and credit unions can offer them immediately and that many people like being able to replace lost or stolen cards at a branch.
"Our members love the fact that they can now walk into a branch and, within minutes, get their debit card with their own selected PIN and leave with their card that's ready to use," Vickey Rohde, Tower Federal's senior analyst of research and development, said in the vendor's press release.
Tower Federal has assets of $1.5 billion and more than 115,000 members. It is the largest credit union in Maryland.
