Mellon Financial Corp. said Thursday that it had hired Tracy M. McCarthy to be the New York regional president of its private wealth management group.

In this role, Ms. McCarthy is to head the group's sales, portfolio management, and private banking activities in the region. She has more than 25 years of experience in the investment and wealth management field and most recently was a managing director and sales manager at U.S. Trust Corp. in New York, where she managed a team of sales, sales support, and event-planning professionals.
Previously, she was a program manager and regional sales and marketing manager at Bank of New York Co.
