The Pittsburgh financial services company said it named Jon Little, the chief executive officer of Mellon Global Investments, and Helena Morrissey, the chief executive officer of Newton Investment Management, to be co-chairmen of Mellon Europe, its investment management and distribution arm there.

They succeed Jack Klinck, who became Mellon Europe's chairman in 2001. Mr. Klinck also is a vice chairman of Mellon Financial; he is to be assigned a new post in the United States by midsummer, the company said, in addition to his role as president of the investment manager solutions business, based in Pittsburgh.

Mr. Little and Ms. Morrissey are to begin managing the European operation on May 3 in addition to their existing roles.

Ms. Morrissey immediately joins Mr. Little on Mellon's global senior management committee.
