In Brief: Mellon Offers ATMs for Visually Impaired

PITTSBURGH - Mellon Bank said Wednesday it has equipped automated teller machines at 11 branches in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Harrisburg, Pa., with voice-guided technology to assist visually impaired customers.

The Mellon Financial Corp. subsidiary joins several other banking companies - such as PNC Financial Services Group Inc., Bank of America Corp., Wells Fargo & Co., and Citigroup Inc. - in providing ATMs that talk blind customers through transactions. Customers can plug headphones into the machines for privacy.
