Newton Capital Management, the London asset management subsidiary of Mellon Financial Corp., will make its investment strategies available to U.S. institutional investors this quarter, Mellon announced Friday.
Newton, which specializes in global equity, global fixed-income, European equity, and Europe-Australasia-Far East mandates, had $47 billion of assets under management at Sept. 30.
Ciaran Spillane was named head of the U.S. business and will be based in New York.He is to develop relationships with investment consultants and institutional investors. He worked for Bank of Ireland's asset management group where most recently he was the director of client service at its U.S. subsidiary, Iridian Asset Management.
Mr. Spillane reports to Mark Scott, head of the institutional business at Newton. Mellon also said that a second U.S.-based relationship manager would be introduced shortly.
