In Brief: MetLife to Add ID Theft Aid to Auto Policy

MetLife Auto and Home, a Warwick, R.I., subsidiary of New York's MetLife Inc., said Tuesday that it in early May it will become the first national insurer in the United States to offer identity theft resolution service with its automobile policies at no additional cost.

The company said it has begun filing the auto-policy enhancement with regulators and has so far received approval in 22 states.

The service will be provided by Identity Theft 911 LLC, a Scottsdale, Ariz., provider of theft crisis resolution, defense, and education services. Identity Theft 911 will help policyholders file police reports, create fraud victim affidavits and comprehensive case files, deal with debt collectors, and notify government agencies.
