In Brief: MGIC’s Culver Named Association President

WASHINGTON — The Mortgage Insurance Companies of America announced Monday that Curt S. Culver, president and chief executive officer of MGIC Investment Corp., had been elected president of the association.

Mr. Culver, who is also president and CEO of Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corp., is to succeed Frank P. Filipps, chairman and chief executive of Radian Guaranty Inc.

“I welcome the opportunity to serve as MICA’s president,” Mr. Culver said in a press release. “Not only does the industry make it possible for families to buy their first home sooner and for less money down, but we are also very much involved in helping borrowers if they happen to hit a rough patch in their financial life.”

In addition, W. Roger Haughton, chairman and CEO of PMI Mortgage Insurance Co., was elected the association’s vice president. William V. Nutt Jr., president and CEO of United Guaranty Corp., is to be secretary and treasurer of the association.
