In Brief: More Bank 1 Alums Joining Juniper Banks

WILMINGTON, Del. — Juniper Bank, an online bank that specializes in credit cards, has hired Jeff Chittenden as its chief information officer and Joseph Purzycki as its chief administrative officer.

Both executives are veterans of First USA, the credit card division of Bank One Corp. Juniper was founded by two top First USA executives, Richard W. Vague and Jim Stewart.

Mr. Chittenden, whose expertise is in software consulting and telecommunications, will direct Juniper’s technology strategies, investments, and partnerships.

Mr. Purzycki, whose last position was as president of Ultimate Inc., an Internet auction company, will oversee Juniper’s human resources, facilities, and business services departments, as well as its community service initiatives.

Juniper also appointed Dr. Patrick Harker, dean of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and Robert Litan, the vice president and director of economic studies at the Brookings Institution, to its advisory board.
