The combined assets of the nation's mutual funds grew 1.5% in February, according to data released Wednesday by the Investment Company Institute.
The funds' asset total reached $8.125 trillion that month.
Long-term funds, which include stock, bond, and hybrid funds, collectively had net inflows of $29.09 billion, compared with $19.89 billion in January.
Money market funds had $20.06 billion of outflows in February, compared with a $27.52 billion outflow in January.
