In Brief: Nat City Hires 4-Man Harris Equity Team

National City Investment Management Co. announced the hiring Monday of four people from Harris Investment Management Inc. who will make up a structured equity team at the Cleveland unit of National City Corp.

Hitesh Patel, Paul Kleinaitis, Rob Roquitte, and Steven Greiner are to strengthen the unit's equity capabilities by broadening and deepening its small- and mid-cap product offerings, the company said. The structured equity team is to operate from offices in Chicago.

Mr. Patel joins National City as director of structured equity strategies for the new team. He was director of quantitative research at Harris Investment Management and has 20 years of experience in this specialty.

Mr. Kleinaitis is to be a senior portfolio manager. He was the team leader for small-cap strategies and a portfolio manager of Harris Insight Funds' Small-Cap Opportunity, Small-Cap Aggressive Growth, and Small-Cap Value portfolios, as well as of separate accounts in these strategies. He has 18 years of portfolio management and research experience.

Mr. Roquitte also is to be a senior portfolio manager. He managed Harris' Small-Cap Opportunity, Small-Cap Value, and Small-Cap Aggressive Growth funds, as well as of separate accounts in these strategies. He has managed portfolios for 17 years.

Mr. Greiner is to be the team's senior quantitative strategist. He was senior quantitative strategist at Harris Investment Management and has 25 years of quantitative research and modeling experience.

The National City unit focuses on investments and services for institutional clients.
