In Brief: NationsBank Extends Olympics Sponsorship

The United States Olympic Committee announced Thursday that NationsBank Corp. has renewed its role as a corporate sponsor and official bank of the U.S. Olympic teams through 2004.

The Charlotte, N.C.-based banking company also said it has extended a $170 million line of credit to the Salt Lake Organizing Committee to help finance the 2002 Olympic Games here.

Under the agreement, NationsBank will sponsor U.S. Olympic teams competing in Nagano, Japan, in 1998; Sydney, Australia, in 2000; Salt Lake City in 2002; and Athens in 2004.

NationsBank was the first corporate partner of the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, and a sponsor of the 1994 and 1996 U.S. Olympic teams.
