In Brief: NCR Sells 3,350 ATMs in India, Africa

NCR Corp. has signed deals to deliver automated teller machines to banks in India and Africa.

The Dayton, Ohio, company said Tuesday that State Bank of India had ordered 3,000 Personas machines, its largest sale to date in that country. And last week NCR announced a deal to supply United Bank for Africa, in Nigeria, with 350 Personas ATMs.

The India deal includes NCR's Aptra software, which can provide a uniform interface for machines from different makers. NCR will also supply installation and deployment services, including construction and monitoring to ensure ATM availability.

The 3,000 ATMs are a mix of conventional machines and those offering advanced functions such as airline and railway ticketing, and one-to-one marketing. State Bank of India recently mapped out a plan to install ATMS at important railway stations in India.
