In Brief: New Century Turns A 2Q Profit

IRVINE, Calif. — The subprime lender New Century Financial Corp. said its second-quarter net income was $9.9 million, 51 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $8.6 million or 63 cents a share in the year-earlier period.

Revenues rose 80%, to $64.8 million, the company announced Friday. For the first half net income was $8 million, or 41 cents a share, against a net loss of $1.3 million or 19 cents a share in the first half of 2000.
