In Brief: New CEO for HSBC Asset Management Unit

The asset management arm of HSBC Group said Thursday that it has hired a new chief executive.

John Myers, 52, joined HSBC Asset Management from Transamerica Life Cos., where he was a senior vice president. Before that he was president and chief executive of brokerage at the old BankAmerica Corp. The position has been open since last summer, when Angela DeRosa left the company, a spokeswoman said. HSBC Asset Management managed $63.9 billion of assets as of March 31. - Cheryl Winokur
