In Brief: Northern Trust Names Global Trust Chief

CHICAGO - Northern Trust has promoted Michael J. Gallimore to chairman and chief executive officer of Northern Trust Global Advisors.

Mr. Gallimore, 42, succeeds Edgar W. Barksdale Jr. as head of the Stanford, Conn., unit. Mr. Barksdale was promoted six months ago to chairman emeritus of the firm.

Before the promotion Mr. Gallimore was executive vice president and chief investment officer with Northern Trust Global Advisors and president of the bank's Global Advisors in Canada.

Northern Trust Global Advisors, which oversees $16.4 billion of assets for over 200 institutional and personal clients, manages international programs, private equity, completion funds, emerging and minority managers, and hedge funds.
