New York Life International, the global arm of New York Life Insurance Co., said Monday that it had hired a former Manulife Financial Corp. executive, John Harrison, to be its chief executive officer for Asia.
Mr. Harrison was CEO of Manulife's Indonesia subsidiary. Before that, he was a vice president in Hong Kong for Manulife and held posts with Canada Life Financial Corp., Crown Life Insurance Co., and American International Group Inc.
He reports to Joseph Gilmour, the president and chief executive officer of New York Life International.
The international division offers insurance products through subsidiaries and affiliates in Hong Kong, India, Mexico, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Argentina, and China. It also maintains a representative office in Hanoi.
