The $16 million cash-and-stock deal was announced Thursday. It is expected to close in the first quarter.

Oak Hill has been looking to expand in Ohio's Lawrence County, where it has just one branch.

The $125 million-asset Lawrence Financial has four branches in Lawrence County, where it was founded in 1919. Acquiring it would give the $981 million-asset Oak Hill the No. 2 market share in the county, behind U.S. Bancorp. - John Reosti
