In Brief: Pershing Hires Exec to Oversee Trading

Pershing LLC, Bank of New York's clearing services arm, has announced the hiring of a top executive from Fidelity Investments to oversee global agency trading and principal trading activities.

Pershing hired Craig Messinger to be a managing director and member of its executive committee. He will have senior management responsibility for agency trading and principal trading, the company said on Tuesday.

Mr. Messinger has 26 years of industry and trading experience. He was the president of Fidelity Capital Markets, where he was responsible for the trade execution business and supplying execution services to institutional, retail, new broker-dealer, and registered investment adviser clients.

He also has held senior management posts at Lehman Brothers, including senior vice president of Lehman Brothers Japan Inc. and president and chief executive officer of Lehman Brothers Canada Inc.

Pershing is a global provider of clearing and financial services outsourcing to more than 1,100 institutional and retail financial organizations and independent investment advisers who collectively represent more than six million individual investors. The company has offices in 22 countries.
