In Brief: PNC Closes Deal for Va.'s Harris Williams

PNC Financial Services Group Inc. said Wednesday that it had closed its purchase of Harris Williams & Co., a Richmond, Va., mergers and acquisitions adviser to middle-market companies. The deal's terms were not disclosed.

Harris Williams employs about 110 people in Richmond and in Boston and San Francisco offices. It is to maintain its corporate identity as a subsidiary of PNC and will report to PNC vice chairman William S. Demchak. The company serves private equity firms and private and public companies.

PNC, a diversified financial services company in Pittsburgh, offers both consumer and business banking; specialized services for corporations and government entities, including corporate banking, real estate finance, and asset-based lending; wealth management; asset management; and global fund services.
