In Brief: Regulators Seek Reaction to Capital Rules

WASHINGTON — Federal bank and thrift regulators published a proposal Friday that would simplify capital rules for nine out of 10 banks in the country.

The agencies are soliciting comments on the definition of “non-complex financial institutions” that would be targeted by the plan, and on minimum capital requirements, among other issues. Comments are due Feb. 1, 2001.
