The Risk Management Association said Monday that it has created a certification program for credit risk experts.
The trade group said it had been working for three years on the program, which allows credit risk professionals with at least three years of experience to take a five-hour, 126-question exam to become certified.
The RMA said it had worked with a group of bankers and other industry experts to develop the certification test, which it said is unique.
"Our members told us RMA should be the organization to build this credential because of our long-standing commitment to help institutions measure and manage credit risk," said Jim Nelson, the group's director of credit risk. Its members are lending and risk management professionals.
