In Brief: Rothschild Hires 2 Energy Specialists

NEW YORK — Rothschild said Monday that it had hired two investment bankers specializing in the energy industry from UBS Warburg, the investment banking unit of UBS AG.

Edwin E. Wells Jr. and Richard Ennis have joined Rothschild as managing director and director, respectively, in the firm’s New York investment banking advisory group.

Mr. Wells was a managing director in Warburg’s global energy group, and Mr. Ennis was a director in the company’s corporate finance department, where he focused on oil and gas, global power, and pipeline industries.

Rothschild, a privately held investment and merchant bank, has been expanding its U.S. investment banking platform through a number of senior Wall Street hirings, including the January addition of Gerald Rosenfeld, now chief executive officer of Rothschild North America.

In late May, the firm started a strategic alliance with Global Technology Partners LLC, a firm that supplies advisory and consulting services to the aerospace and defense industries and that is run by several ex-Pentagon officials, including former Defense Secretary William Perry.
