SCBT Financial Corp. of Columbia, S.C., announced Friday that it would buy the $94 million-asset New Commerce BanCorp of Greenville, S.C., for $20 million in cash.
The deal, SCBT's first in five years, would add two branches to its current two in the attractive Greenville market. The $1.4 billion-asset company entered that market in June 2002.
The acquisition is expected to close in the second quarter.
