JMP Asset Management, a San Francisco hedge fund manager, announced Friday that it had hired a former BlackRock Inc. executive to run distribution.

Richard M. Duff 3d was hired to be a managing director and head of distribution and product management, the company said. He was a managing director and co-head of the private-client group at BlackRock, the Wall Street money management affiliate of Pittsburgh's PNC Financial Services Group Inc., where he was responsible for intermediary products and distribution.
