Shelter Financial currently uses the EastPoint Technologies core transaction processing product from Open Solutions Inc. of Glastonbury, Conn., but plans to start using the Complete Banking Solution system, Open Solutions said Tuesday.

The $118 million-asset subsidiary of Shelter Mutual Insurance Co. sells its banking products primarily through its parent company. Ron Wheeling, the bank's president and chief executive, said the fact that most of its customers use online banking was one of the factors behind the decision to update the transaction processing system.

"We rarely see our customers, so automation and real-time processing were key requirements for a technology upgrade," he said in an Open Solutions press release.
