St. Paul Travelers said Thursday that it had hired Kathleen L. Preston to be an executive vice president, field marketing, a newly created post that reports to president and chief executive officer Jay Fishman.
She is to head the regional executive organization and bring to bear her experience with the independent agent channel, Mr. Fishman said in a press release. She is to join St. Paul Travelers after completing her current responsibilities at Travelers Life and Annuity.
Ms. Preston worked as president of the retail annuities division at Travelers Life and Annuity, a unit of Citigroup Inc. that the latter has agreed to sell to MetLife Inc. in a deal expected to close this summer.
At Travelers Life, where she was an executive vice president of the overall company, with responsibility for communications and community relations, Ms. Preston oversaw product development, risk management, distribution, marketing, asset retention, and training for the annuities division. She is a former senior vice president, from 1995 to 1998, of insurance sales and operations at the former Fleet Financial Group in Boston.
