St. Paul Travelers announced Tuesday that it has started an Internet liability policy aimed at small to midsize technology businesses.
Internet Basic Liability Protection is designed for technology businesses that have $5 million to $100 million of revenues and do business on the Internet. Two specific risks are covered: failure to protect private customer or client information from hackers or accidental disclosure and failure to prevent the spread of a computer virus.
The product insures against damages caused by a failure to prevent the transmission of a virus to authorized users of a policyholder's Web site or private communication network and a failure to protect private or confidential information from unauthorized access.
