Sun Life Financial U.S. has hired Michele Van Leer as a vice president and co-general manager of its individual life insurance division.
Ms. Van Leer will work with co-general manager Claude Accum at the Wellesley Hills, Mass., company. She will become general manager in the fall, when Mr. Accum moves to the company's retirement services division. She will direct all distribution and marketing for the life insurance division.
Ms. Van Leer recently retired from John Hancock Life Insurance Co., where she worked for 26 years. She retired as executive vice president of Hancock's long-term care insurance business.
Mr. Accum has worked at Sun Life since 1983.
Sun Life Financial's group of companies had $332 billion in assets under management as of Dec. 31.
