In Brief: TIAA-CREF Adds Chief Compliance Officer

TIAA-CREF announced Thursday that it had hired James G. Reilly from Goldman, Sachs & Co. to be a senior vice president and its chief compliance officer.

Mr. Reilly is to work with business and support units to install compliance processes and procedures that integrate controls into business processes. At Goldman, Mr. Reilly most recently was a managing director and the head of global equities compliance. His experience includes creating and maintaining surveillance programs, designing employee-related policies, and dealing with regulatory issues.

"TIAA-CREF is committed to maintaining a world-class compliance function," George W. Madison, an executive vice president and the company's general counsel, said in a press release. Mr. Reilly will report to Mr. Madison and to the audit committees of TIAA and CREF.

Mr. Reilly succeeds Carol Baldwin Moody who resigned for family reasons in October.
