Tompkins Trustco Inc. in Ithaca, N.Y., said Thursday that it had added an insurance agency in Trumansburg, N.Y., to its Tompkins Insurance Agencies subsidiary.

The acquisition of the Farrell-Messler Agency in Trumansburg closed on March 1.
Farrell-Messler has five employees and is owned by E. Joseph Farrell, who will remain involved with the agency. All employees will continue to be employed at the agency.
The Farrell agency is the second in Tompkins County to become part of Tompkins Insurance Agencies. The former Banfield Agency in Ithaca was the first to join Tompkins at the end of 2004.
In addition to the two offices in Tompkins County, Tompkins Insurance operates from 10 locations in western New York.
