CHICAGO - Uptown National Bank has been nominated, along with several Chicago social organizations, for a civic group's Outstanding Community Investment Award. The award, for financing organizations that serve the homeless, is presented by Washington-based Social Compact.

The bank provided a loan to Chicago Health Outreach for a new health center serving homeless and indigent Chicago families. It also helped Cornerstone Community Outreach to finance operations costs that have grown to $750,000 from $70,000, and supports the Uptown Center Hull House.
