In Brief: Verifone Adds Lynk Systems as Processor

ATLANTA — Verifone has added Lynk Systems Inc. as an alternative payment processor for unbranded gas stations and convenience stores that use Verifone’s Ruby SuperSystem point of sale system.

Verifone is a subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard Inc. Ruby combines card processing, fuel dispensing, dispenser card reader control, and electronic cash register functions.

Lynk Systems’ LynkPak software — a credit, debit, and electronic benefits transfer application — works with a wide range of fleet card networks and all of the major electronic dispensers. It uses a batch verification system designed to eliminate dropped or duplicated transactions.

Doug Currie, the director of Lynk’s petroleum and convenience store unit, said his company’s experience in serving small and midsize merchants enables it to “anticipate and meet the needs of the independents.”
