Sterling Financial Corp. of Spokane said its Sterling Savings Bank plans to exchange check images with users of Viewpointe Archive Services LLC's shared archive.
The companies planned to announce today that the connection to Viewpointe's Pointe2Pointe service network is still being built and is expected to be completed this quarter.
Pointe2Pointe, which Viewpointe unveiled in May 2005, allows its archive users to exchange images with other banks, processors, and intermediaries.
The $8.9 billion-asset Sterling Financial will be the fifth midsize banking company to use the service and the first to join since Cullen/Frost Bankers Inc. of San Antonio connected to the archive in August 2005.
"Through Viewpointe, we are able to immediately tap into massive check image volumes and expand our image exchange reach," Kade Peterson, a senior vice president and banking support director for Sterling, said in a press release.
Viewpointe, of Charlotte, was founded in 2000 and is owned by Bank of America Corp., JPMorgan Chase & Co., U.S. Bancorp, SunTrust Banks Inc., and Wells Fargo & Co.
